i always forget about this little side-blog, and then I even begin to wonder what a sideblog is at all. maybe if I get an iPhone one day I will have a better reason for this, but I guess I will keep viewing it as a place for more off-the-cuff postings, and random music stuff.

Lately I have been thinking more about the idea of an active faith. So many times in life, even though I have thought I was participating, I realize that I lead a fairly passive faith. I participate in worship, teach at places, but overall-don’t really get down that much with what I claim to believe.

I always joke that I have a list of big, smart sounding words to make my $40,000 seminary education worthwhile. One of the words on the list is Embodiment. Not the sweet hardcore band from the 90’s, but the idea of a belief that is evident through its “dwelling with”.

I keep thinking that life will be weird now that I don’t have a traditional ministry type job.

But that doesn’t matter. Christ gave us an example of a life that was simply lived out with people. That makes me happy. So I now pursue real life. That means friendships, good conversation and alot of laughter.

Here is the long awaited demo of the swirl phaser/vibe. My studio is currently torn apart so I used a low level rig to do this, the hum is from my old mixer, not the pedal/guitar rig. Enjoy and let me know if you are interested in one.

The First edition of “Midnight Songs”, a fun feature I may actually move over to my main site.

Here is a song I found tonight in one of my prayer books (A Catholic Book of Hours and other Devotions). I really enjoyed it and found myself putting it to a tune. It is by John Rippon, an 18th century Baptist minister and hymnal publisher.

Jesus, when faith with constant eyes
Regards your wondrous sacrifice,
Love rises to an ardent flame,
And we all other hope disclaim.

With cold affections who can see
The lash, the thorns, the nails, the tree,
The flowing tears and purple sweat,
